KS Wild's Adopt-a-Botanical Area program is a community watchdog program designed to mobilize volunteers to be Our Community’s eyes and ears on the ground in designated Botanical Areas throughout the Klamath-Siskiyou region.

Through KS Wild's ABA Program you will:

  • Get to know a special place

  • Promote awareness of regional biodiversity

  • Engage in community based conversation

Adopting a Botanical Area is a one-year commitment to:

  • Visit your chosen area at least once a season and send us assessments to document flora and fauna and potential sources of disruption or illegal activity on the site.
  • Detect threats to botanical resources and communicate with the Program Coordinate to appropriately address the issues
  • Pick-up trash at least once a year – if it is overwhelming call us and we will organize a clean-up.

We are glad to share in a community of stewardship:

  • Participate in training events, and other optional events like invasive weed pulls, trash clean-ups, plant ID walks
  • Help us to grow our community, providing tools of engagement for others to learn more about their public lands
